Hi Do you do coach trips to Portsmouth from scunthorpe in lincolnshire we are looking for 7 august to 10 august for 4 adults
many thanks
An interesting choice of destination – with loads to see and do! As you may know, Portsmouth is home to Henry VIII’S Mary Rose, Nelson’s HMS Victory, the HMS Warrior and The Royal Navy Museum. Fans of Dickens may step inside his birthplace and even behold the mournful couch upon which he died. Portsmouth is the home to the Spinnaker Tower, an amazing 170-meter high modern structure looking like it’s from the future! On a clear day it offers views as far as the Isle of Wight
Have you tried Shearings Holidays? They offer a Scunthorpe pick-up point and have quiet a good selection of holidays visiting the South Coast of England. Please let me know how you get on.
went to folkestone &bruges with the coach holiday co in march briliant holiday coach driver was peppi first class trip
Went on thecoachholiday.com to Shanklin IOW from Crawley, Sussex. Waited to get on the coach at 10am but it did not arrive until 10.30 (apparently, driver got lost in Croydon). After pick-ups in Brighton and Hove (the driver was uncertain of the area)we finally got to the Little Chef at Fontwell about 12:30 where we stopped for an hour for coffee. We got on the Ferry at Southampton at 3pm and finally got to the hotel approx 5pm. We had no idea the journey would take all day and we lost 2complete days travelling and only had 2days to explore the Island. Hotel was excellent-no complaints – but why oh why did it take all day to get there? Driver was very helpful and pleasant but we were disappointed to only have 2days to ourselves. (There was no need for a coffee break on the way).
We went to the Cotswolds, 28th August 2009.We had never been on a coach holiday before but would recommend it. Our coach driver was great telling us interesting points and tails about the villages etc and went out of his way to make it an enjoyable holiday. The hotel was very good and the all you could eat meals was fantastic, although my expanding waist would not agree! We have just booked another trip for March this year.
Had a fantastic weekend break to the Isle of Wight on 16th April 2010. Excellent organisation, lovely journey and crossing. Stayed at the Royal Pier Hotel in Sandown and was very well looked after. Food was good as was the company on the coach. Full marks for an excellent driver, Dave from Nottingham. Loved it and can’t wait for another break from Rotherham. Well done, Mum, Sue Kath Claire and Sue
This was the most distressing holiday we have ever had.how we were treated was absolutley shocking.
Just returned from trip to Paris with Thecoachholiday.com.We were a party of three women and two children aged 8 and 9.We had the most awful experience.First they cancelled our local pick-up but promised we would be dropped off home as our worst fear is being left miles from home with two children in the middle of the night. We were assured we would be taken home. However, while in paris the coach driver said that he wasnt going to take us home.He said that it would be another driver and his exact words were when I told him we were promised to be taken home was”Promises mean nothing, money talks, every driver can be bribed”After a frantic call to my husband to the uk he was straight on the phone to thecoachholiday.com and was again assured that there was our local drop off.I informed the driver and he just shrugged his shoulders and walked off.
All through the trip we never had use of the toilet the whole 4 days,we were not allowed to use it.The driver gave us no information about anything. The hotel was 6 hours away from Calais in a undesirable area. The room was shabby(broken drawers, phone ripped out off the wall and cigarette burns on the blanket)and the staff were rude and obnoxious.
Now comes the worst bit.
On the way home we felt the driver Ian deliberatley delayed us and we missed 2 ferries home.He didn’t seem bothered,it was like it was planned.
His exact words were “We missed the ferry,Never mind”
He again mentioned drivers can be bought. When we got on the coach from Dover for our journey home he informed us he was driving to unscheduled stop off route to change drivers AND coaches.Thecoachholiday.com claim on their website that they never change coaches.the toilet on this coach was also locked and we were not allowed to use it.
I found the driver straight away and informed him that there was a weston super mare drop off(where we live)He said NO.The other coach driver said again that we should give him money and then got in his coach and drove off. After another frantic all home to my husband I handed the new coach driver my phone and asked him to speak to my husband. He said NO.He then said “alright.alright i’ll take you home where do wanna go,the pier o.k!?He was very rude.He was then shouting on the coach that he not long received a phone call to work and he didnt want to do it.Might explain why Ian delayed us because he didnt have a second driver lined up.How very unprofessional.
I took my seat on the coach and another passenger had enquired the drop off stops and informed us that we were 4th drop off.
After the third drop off we woke the kids to get them ready to get off.Another passenger came to us and informed us he wasnt going to weston super mare next he was going to plymouth and then drop us off at Weston super mare!Well all hell broke loose. At this time we had already been travelling 16 hrs.this would mean another 7-8 hours more.we were 40 minutes from home.we cried and begged him to take us home.He said “I havn’t the f***ing petrol to take you to Weston super mare!” Can you belive that!
He refused. We were all shouting “Stop the coach, stop the coach! but he refused. He was taking us further from home and we were really scared. My daughter was crying in pain because she needed the toilet. He refused to stop or give us the key for the toilet. We had to shout and other passengers had to make him stop.I again rang my husband who could hear the hysteria and called the police!
He stopped at a petrol station in the middle of nowhere(yeovilton, pace podimore)We told him to get out our cases as we were not being taken all the way to Plymouth.
He shouted and swore and made faces at the kids while he THREW off our cases onto the road then drove awat leaving us all crying.cold and alone.
i rang my husband(who was actually working) to come and get us.He was about hour and a half away.It was 3.00a.m in the early hours of the morning! We opened our suitcases and got out clothes to the kids and us warm. This is when we noticed that there were two cases that didn’t belong to us.We placed them safely with the petrol station employee.Someone was going to get a shock when they arrived home!
Andre the petrol station employee was wonderful. He wasn’t allowed to let us in because it was the middle of the night but he let us use the toilet one at a time,he made us hot drinks and gave the kids sticker books to play with.He was a godsend,He kept an eye on us untill my husband arrived one hour later. He must of put his foot down.We arrived home at 5.15a.m and was never so happy when we stepped foot inside our home.
I put my daughter to bed and then sobbed my heart out while stroking her face that she was now safe and sound in her bed in her home. Her saftey was compromised because of obnoxious little man who didn’t have a heart.
Although i have put in an official complaint to the company i have yet to hear from them.i would like for them to improve their service while on the trip and communication is nil.I also want them to stop using this coach company which is contracted out(Clarkes in South Wales)They are very much a cowboy company who is only interested in how much money they can get out of you and how much duty free alchol they can get in the boot.If you want my opinion.do not book with this company!
As a driver employed to do coachholiday.com work Im agast atsome of the comments ive read.As a PROFESIONAL driver I feel I must point out a few things
1)As drivers we cant be expected to know every town village or city in the uk we are only human
2)Most of us try our best to make tours a happy experiance.
3)We (most of us)never complain about the way certain individuals think that it is there god given right to leave the coach in a tip.It is a hazard to do so.Ive recently just returned of a trip and on the way to drop off passengers a coke bottle(glass)rolled under the brake peddle
4)I always treat the passengers with the utmost respect (wish it was reciprecated we get treated like dirtby quite a few people)
5)Its not our fault if we are held up in traffic
6)I try to make the holiday last a little longer by pulling off the motorway for a break(Leagly for the drivers we have laws to adhere to for YOUR SAFETY,I try to stop about every 2 hrs once pick ups are finished)most people appreciate this but recently I had a passengr complain so I asked her if she would prefer to stop at the M6 services or where we did she said I would rather just drive straight home(didnt know the 4.5hr law for drivers she lived 6hrs away from the hotel
PLEASE THINK ABOUT THE DRIVERS OF THE COACHES
I have booked a 4 day holiday to Isle of Wight. There is only one day of excursion out of 4 days. Their website does not clearly mention this; I called to enquire about this. The female over the phone was very rude and did not had much information. Though it is a good deal, i would rethink booking a holiday with TheCoachHoliday.com again.
we have just returned from one of your rail sail and tails holidays,we have had a lovely week, our driver (mark from pullhams glos) could not do enough for us,and made sure that we all enjoyed our break, for what we paid the hotel was clean a bit disorganised at meal times, but the staff were always polite,so all in all good value for money so thank you mark for a nice break, and would book another holiday with no worries
We have just returned from our Amsterdam weekend had a fab time, the coach drivers david and paul from York Pullman were wonderful and couldnt do enough for us. The only slight downside was the hotel, was 1 hour drive from Amsterdam. The chosen hotel was a 5* hotel.
I would defiently recommend this holiday.
1/11/10
we have just returned from a trip to bideford north devon we had a great time our driver andy campbell was the best we have ever gone with and would definately go on more trips.
coachholiday.com. Boarded coach Ruislip st.7am.3 miles from home, went stright to S Minns services where told next pickup was St Albans followed by Harrow station, by 11am was still 3 mls from home at Harrow st.arrived blackpool 6pm most miserable coach driver we have ever met.coach broke down S Mimms services think it was staged because of time lag between pickups?.daytrip to Southport lasted 2hrs ,hotel wasn’t too bad Norbreck castle First and last trip, will never use this company again.
Went to Christmas Markets in Valkenburg and Aachen with thecoachholiday.com. Driver who picked us up didn’t continue on journey to markets (thank goodness – he was a miserable bugger
, we changed driver at a service station before Dover!). Driver Phil was fab – thanks Phil! Had bit of nightmare journey as missed ferry due to bad weather, but got on the next one. Then delayed on Belgian M25!! Couple of moaning minnies on the bus who complained that the driver wasn’t keeping us informed when we were stuck in the traffic – look out of the window!! Nothing is moving – enough said! Phil was very good and made proper stops when required. The hotel in Holland was excellent, and the excursions were great, we even had some country and western Christmas Carols. The day before our return the weather was shocking – snowing and absolutely freezing. We left a little early and the journey to Calais was quick, we even got an earlier ferry home – gold stars galore for Phil! He made the trip – even in his shocking Christmas tie! Would definitely recommend!
we went to Paris with Coach Holidays in Sept, At the price I would not fault them in any way. The excursions into Paris were wonderful and the driver Daz (Darren) simply great. We will certainly travel with them again.
Beware when booking.Booked a 4 day hoilday for my husband and myself.Paid £10 extra each for front seats ,as I am not a very good traveller ,paid £50.00 deposit ,got conformation in post. One week later they had a minor alteration we could not have front seats as they had to merge two coach so we were told we could not have seats 1and 2 even though we had paid extra for our seats paid our deposit they said nothing they could do as it was first come first served .I tried to explain why we booked those seats as I am not a good traveller ,they said we could have seats behind 1and2 at no extra cost but that was not what we booked for.So I said cancell then UNAWARE I would lose my deposit of £50.00 .They stuck to terms and conditions which you dont get untill you receive your comformation ,what sort of company is this to not only takes your money and dont seem to care if you are unhappy they want to stick by their rules ,so we ending up NO HOILDAY and NO MONEY as we are both pensioners we cant afford to lose the money so we are taking them to small claims .court .WE WILL NEVER TRAVEL WITH THIS COMPANY AGAIN. SO BEWARE.
I forgot to say its now JUSTGOhoildays change their name.
Have just returned from a 4 day trip to the Cotswolds with National staying at the Royal Court Hotel, never again, the hotel was a disaster, they were simply not interested in our coach party, none of the staff knew where we were supposed to have our meals, which were self service with no allocated table, we were sent to a different room each time, meals were usually warm, not hot, there were never enough seats, and never any staff to help, one morning we had to find our own plates cutlery etc.,the milk and fruit were frozen solid in their containers, if you did not arrive on time your food would be cold, on the last morning we were sent to a room where other guests were eating but we were told we could use the tables with paper napkins only, not linen like the other guests. Our driver, Mark, told us there would be the usual entertainment, quiz, bingo, singer but there was nothing. The rooms were reasonable and the swimming pool was nice, though could have been cleaner, but the holiday was spoilt by the fiasco at meal times.
