Re-live the largest invasion ever on Gold Crest Holidays’ five-day break.
Day Two will allow for an exploration of the British and Canadian sectors of the Allied Landings. Firstly, you will visit Pegasus Bridge, where the conflict began in the early hours of 6th June 1944. You will also visit Ranville Cemetery where over 2000 men lie at rest and then continue on to the landing beaches of Sword, Juno and Gold. There will be the chance to see the innovative Mulberry Habour system that still lie in the bay at Arromanches. The day ends with a visit to a German Gun Battery at Longues Sur Mer.
On Day Three there will be a morning in the Normandy town of Bayeux, famous for its eleventh-century Tapestry but also as the first major town on mainland Europe to be liberated by the Allies. The afternoon is spent in Caen, where you can see the poignant Caen Memorial. On the final full day you will be taken to Omaha Beach and the American Cemetery at Coleville Sur Mer and then continue on to Pointe du Hoc. After lunch you proceed to the Utah Beach Museum and Museum of the American Airborne.
Finally, you can add on Gold Crest’s optional excursion to the pretty fishing town of Hornfleur.
