Operation Market Garden

This four day break from Leger Holidays retraces the steps of Operation Market Garden, the ill-fated attempt to parachute into Holland and end the war by Christmas 1944.

After travelling to your base in Arnhem-Velp you will have the three excursions of the German Cemetery at Ysselsteyn, the National War and Resistance Museum at Overloon and time at leisure in Nijmegen. There is also an optional excursion to the Groesbeek Liberation Museum.

On Day Two the coach will journey down Hell’s Highway, the hazardous road stretching to the Allied objectives in Arnhem. When at Arnhem you will have the opportunity to visit the bridge itself, St Elizabeth Hospital where there was bitter fighting and memorials at Ginkelheide and Heelsum.

The tour will be rounded off with the 1stAirborne Museum, which was also the headquarters of the Arnhem Division. You will be accompanied at all times by a specialist battlefields guide.
